Hyphomonas adhaerens sp. nov., Hyphomonas johnsonii sp. nov. and Hyphomonas rosenbergii sp. nov., marine budding and prosthecate bacteria.
Three strains of prosthecate, budding bacteria, MHS-2T, MHS-3T and VP6T, were isolated from marine habitats including the open ocean (the pelagic zone), the offshore region (the neritic zone) and the hydrothermal vent region. A polyphasic approach including 16S rDNA sequencing, phenotypic analyses, serology, fatty acid analyses, membrane protein profiles and DNA-DNA hybridizations was used to p...
متن کاملAvirulence genes in plant - pathogenic bacteria : signals or weapons ? Alan Vivian and
Phytopathogenic bacteria generally have limited host ranges, often confined to members of a single plant species or genus. This appears to result from negative factors restricting the host range ra.ther than from positive factors which allow the pathogen to infect its hosts. These negative factors are avirulence genes present in the pathogen, which interact with matching resistance genes in the...
متن کاملMULTIPLICATION MODULES THAT ARE FINITELY GENERATED
Let $R$ be a commutative ring with identity and $M$ be a unitary $R$-module. An $R$-module $M$ is called a multiplication module if for every submodule $N$ of $M$ there exists an ideal $I$ of $R$ such that $N = IM$. It is shown that over a Noetherian domain $R$ with dim$(R)leq 1$, multiplication modules are precisely cyclic or isomorphic to an invertible ideal of $R$. Moreover, we give a charac...
متن کاملPleomorphy in stalked, budding bacteria.
An investigation of hyphomicrobia from manganese deposits and various fresh-water habitats revealed an astonishing degree of pleomorphy in the group. A range of variation spanning two described genera (Hyphomicrobium and Pedomicrobium) was induced by varying culture conditions and was further observed in natural environments. It is suggested that Pedomicrobium is an invalid genus.
متن کاملMovements that are Both Variable and Optimal
This brief review addresses two major aspects of the neural control of multi-element systems. First, the principle of abundance suggests that the central nervous system unites elements into synergies (co-variation of elemental variables across trials quantified within the framework of the uncontrolled manifold hypothesis) that stabilize important performance variables. Second, a novel method, a...
